Introducing SIFT-MS: The Final Piece of Your Analytical Toolkit
Thursday, September 18, 2025
8am PDT | 11am EDT | 4pm BST | 5pm CEST

Selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) is a chromatography-free, direct-analysis technique that is ideally suited to real-time, quantitative analysis of volatile compounds in air at trace concentrations. SIFT-MS utilizes highly controlled, soft chemical ionization coupled with mass spectrometry detection to provide rapid, broad-spectrum and specific analysis of volatiles with diverse functionalities.
This webinar introduces SIFT-MS in the context of incumbent GC and LC approaches for volatiles analysis, before illustrating practical benefits of the technique using case studies drawn from pharmaceutical, environmental, and food applications. Direct analysis of volatiles using automated SIFT-MS instruments provides shorter time to result, higher sample throughput, and improved workflows through back-to-back analysis of diverse samples using one configuration.
Topics include:
- Understand how SIFT-MS complements incumbent GC and LC methods
- From case studies, become familiar with direct analysis of volatiles
- Learn how automated SIFT-MS can significantly enhance volatiles workflows.
