CHROMtalks - Non-target Analysis Workflow for the Characterization of Depolymerized Lignin

Course Details Webcast

Lignin is an important constituent of various woody biomasses, such as wood, leaves, and stalks. After isolating (hemi)cellulose, the residual lignin is commonly burned; however, for sustainability, this abundant natural material should be valorized more by being incorporated into novel materials. Non-target LC-HRMS can aid here by yielding valuable structural information on differently depolymerised lignin to improve the development of the valorisation processes. In this talk, mzMine for processing both LC-HRMS and LC-IM-HRMS data and annotation with SIRIUS+CSI:FingerID will be presented. In addition, the generation of potential lignin structures using rule-based modelling and employing these in SIRIUS will be shown.
